INTRODUCTION
|
The remote
northwest is one of the most beautiful, unaffected and
untouristed areas of Vietnam. Travellers who come up this way
often hire a jeep and driver or do it by motorbike. Regardless
of which method you select, you are guaranteed to pass through
spectacular ravines and over breathtaking passes.
Best known centre is Sapa, there is a lot more worth
investigating in this hill resort town. The remote French
firebase of Dien Bien Phu remains a drawcard, other popular
destinations include Mai Chau, Yen Bai and Son La. The
interesting culture of many hill tribe groups and the
wonderful mountain scenery of the north are all on this
adventure. The journey is pretty hard, especially in the wet
season. But it is a great chance to explore the remote area
and many colorful markets. A combination of some visits to a
wide variety of ethnic minority groups generally retaining
their lifestyle, traditional costume with high mountains and
terraced fields of Vietnam will excite your spirit of
adventure.

Day
1 Yen Bai
Being the gate to the Northwestern region, Yen Bai is famous
for beauty spots such as Thac Ba Lake, gemstone land of Luc

canoe for an excursion across the Thac Ba Lake containing
crystal clear water where there is an opportunity for a
refreshing swim

2 Bac Ha
Close to border gate, Bac Ha soon became a captivating
destination in the northwest. The market in Bac Ha is often
held? well, on Sunday, and a lot of the market sellers are
women from the tribe of Flower HMong, who are famous for their
wonderful craft and hand-made flowery clothes and textile
fabrics.

Days
3-4 Sa Pa
A magical combination of alpine landscape, ethnic
cultures, and bracing mountain air, Sapa was built as a hill
station inside a beautiful valley in the French time. It's
home of various hill-tribe communities, it is also the only
place in Vietnam that catches extremely rare snow flakes in
winter time

Day
5 Lai Chau
Soon before 2010, the nice valley of Lai Chau will be
underwater in a construction plan of the biggest hydropower
station in Southeast Asia. Jump on the boat for a trip along
the Da River, passing through the stunning mountain
landscapes, is a very relaxed, perfect way to observe the
local lifestyle in close up.
|
|
Day
6 Dien Bien Phu
Only 35km from the border with Laos. Dien Bien is the last
battlefield of the French war, which ended with the fall of
the French colonial control in Indochina and the replacement
of the US Army not so long, Dien Bien Phu now returned to be a
green valley. A visit to the historical sites also makes our
trip more memorable.

|
Day
7 Son La
Crossing the scenic Phadin pass, the most magnificent part
of the Hoang Lien Son range, home of colourful-dressed
Montagnards who still maintain lots of their long-term culture
and traditions. We drive to Son La via Tuan Giao with the
picturesque scenery as you pass the villages settle on the
steep slopes of the mountains.

|
Days
8-9 Mai Chau, return to Ha Noi
The limestone mountain ranges rush up and give the scenery
an imposing view. Mai Chau valley with the villages full of
house-on-stilts and textile products of White Thai tribal
